It is super helpful while they are there. Then they are gone, and you are back staring at your reflection in the laptop screen.
Body doubling works. Someone on camera, a 25 or 50 minute timer, a quick hello. For ADHD brains and solo makers, that presence is often what gets the session started.
You leave with good intentions to keep the momentum going. Then you leave the project for nearly a week, until the day of your next session, an hour before it starts. Sure, you made progress. The gaps are vast. How much further would you be if you had stuck to the timeline you meant to keep?
The session ends. The project does not.
When the camera goes off, your side project is still unfinished. A good Focusmate hour does not finish weeks of work. If you only open the files when someone is on the call with you, you will keep waiting for the next session. That is how the gaps get so big.
How this looks in Motivus
Invite a friend onto the same journey as the side project. When the Zoom ends, they can still see whether you made progress. That stretch between sessions is the part of the journey Motivus is built to track.
